Ticks

A number of bites from little critters in search for their next meal are perceived to not be a big deal. If you, however, get bitten by a tick, you want to know about it because ticks carry a lot of diseases and some of them are serious. Ticks don’t bite you and then fly away. When a tick gets onto your body, it sets up camp, finds a place to eat and then burrows its head into your skin and starts feeding. A tick can stay on your skin for several days because the bite does not hurt, so it’s difficult to feel that you might be housing one. When a tick bites you here is what you should look out for

  1. Red bumps
  2. Rash
  3. Body aches
  4. Headaches
  5. Feeling exhausted

Bees & Wasps

Wasps and bees’ stings can cause similar symptoms, although the treatments are different. Certain types of bees leave their stingers and die after stinging you, wasps can, however, inflict a number of stings because they don’t lose their stingers. Wasps and bee stings can be uncomfortable since these creatures are equipped with stingers for self-defence if you suspect that you might have encountered a bee or a wasp, here is what you should look out for

  1. Swelling around the sting area
  2. Burning around the sting area
  3. Light-headedness
  4. Diarrhoea
  5. Racing or weak pulse

Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are small insects that feed on blood from humans or animals, bed bugs can nest in your bed and are most active at night feeding on people while they sleep. Bites from bed bugs are rarely dangerous, but they can be very itchy and sometimes cause an allergic reaction. Some people can develop noticeable symptoms such as

  1. Swollen bites with dark spots at the centre
  2. Itchiness
  3. Burning sensation

Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes are not just annoying; several people are sensitive to mosquito bites. Some have severe allergic reactions. Mosquitoes sting by locking a combination of scent, exhaled carbon dioxide and chemicals in the person’s sweat. Mosquitoes then land in an area of exposed skin and insert the proboscis to draw the victim’s blood. The common symptoms of mosquito bites are

  1. Itching
  2. Red bump
  3. Bruises near the site of the bite
  4. Nausea
