As Halloween approaches, many people might think of spooky costumes, carved pumpkins, and trick-or-treating. While…
The rain should not stop you from getting that pesky pest control situation under control
Depending on the location of where we’re performing pest control service. If we’re applying inside the house or inside your office building, then rain is not a problem. If we’re looking at doing an exterior service or a garden or any kind of treatment that requires the product to be applied to lawn areas, flower beds, or paving, then any service like this will need to be rescheduled or reset for another day once the weather clears.
Quite often we have clients contact us when rain Is forecasted on their appointment date. They usually have concerns about the effectiveness of pest control services with rain. Often their logic is that the pesticides will wash away with rain. Your concerns are valid, and, in most cases, the rain will have an impact on pest control services. However, it’s not always the case and sometimes a very short light rain will have minimal impact at all on your treatment. It depends on how long it rained after the application took place, and if there were few drops of rain as such, this won’t be an issue, further also the type of treatment being performed, the pesticide being used, and the location where it is applied.
Will the rain ruin the success of recent pest control applications?
Many people believe the rain will wash away their pest control treatments and they then cancel their appointments. Other customers call us when it rains shortly after treatment to check if the application will still work.
So, to sum it up, typically a very light shower with a few drops of rain as such won’t wash away treatments completely. However, if it rains heavily immediately after an outdoor treatment− that will be the issue. That is why at Flick Pest Control, we take a proactive approach to pest control services in scheduling our services, and when rain intervenes, we will rather reschedule the service.
If the forecast on the day shows rainfall, or it is indeed raining, we won’t waste your money and time in these situations−it’s just the right thing to do to reschedule you. We want you to feel you got every bit of service that you paid for once the weather clears.
Does Flick Pest spray in the rain?
As pest control professionals, we will not spray outdoors during light or heavy rainfall, we will only undertake internal spray treatments where applicable. Where we differ from many is that even if it’s a light drizzle, we would rather reschedule. We do this to ensure the maximum effectiveness of the products that we apply− we want you to get your money’s worth.
How can rain be beneficial to pest control treatment?
After it rains, the ground softens up and most pests such as ants, come to the surface to escape the moisture. With the pests exposed like this, it makes any pesticide that much more effective as we can apply it directly to ant nests that may be present. If the ground is too wet and water-logged after excessive rainfall, we would rather wait for the sun to dry the ground more before the service is undertaken.
Where a dry granular formulation is considered and used around ant nest holes or ant nest trails, this typically requires a dry environment, and unfortunately cannot be applied to wet ground or during or after rainfall.
With a spray of one’s garden area or the application of a dry formulation treatment, we advise clients to not water their garden for around 3-5 days after the application, as this will further nullify the effectiveness of the pesticide.
