If you are experiencing an influx of bugs or maybe infested with a critter of sorts, here are a few solutions people think that work, but the reality is that they don’t!
What classifies a Pest as being a “Pest”?
A pest is a living organism animal or plant which is invasive or troublesome to plants or animals, human or human concerns, livestock, or human structures. It is a fluid concept, as an organism can be a pest in one setting but beneficial, domesticated or acceptable in another scenario.
1. Spray bugs before sunrise and at sunset
A lot of people think that it’s best to spray insects at sunset or at sunrise. The reality in the case of mosquitoes as an example- they can bite a person at any time of the day. The misconception one can only get bitten while one is asleep is untrue due to a person being motionless and emitting carbon dioxide when breathing. Mosquitoes are attracted to the carbon dioxide that you exhale to feed on your blood. It is best to be prepared and prevent their entry or make use of citronella candles to keep them at bay
2. Bait mice with cheese
- It’s widely been seen especially on TV and in cartoons, with the likes of Tom and Jerry, where cheese is often used as bait to catch mice. In reality it’s not the ideal food to bait your mouse traps with. Mice are more attracted to foods with sugar content like biscuits, sweets, cereals etc
3. Instant foggers can eliminate bed bugs from one’s home
Commercially available foggers or bombs do not penetrate and get to where bed bugs would be harboring to kill them off. This is due to the brief exposure period these foggers give off. If you suspect that you have a bed bug infestation call in the pest control professionals to attend to it.
4. Ultrasonic repellents
People may have heard of ultrasonic devices that plug into your wall sockets that repel spiders and other bugs. These devices are in our opinion of no value and do not deter insects and rodents. There are other measures to control pests which we can help you with.
5. You don’t need pest control services until there is a problem
This is not the advice we suggest a person follows. Don’t wait for a pest infestation to take residence in your property before contacting a reputable pest control company. This is especially important in the case of having termite infestations that will cause damage to your home. Remember that even if you don’t see a pest problem, it doesn’t mean that they are not there.
