Flick Pest Control purchases and applies pesticides that are registered with the Department of Agriculture and that are SABS approved. We are continually striving to apply pesticides to areas where the target pest is located and to avoid the unnecessary application of these pesticides to non-target areas and insects thus reducing the amount of pesticides applied to the environment.
Flick strives as much as possible to apply Pyrethroid (Pyrethrums) derived pesticides. This group of chemicals is defined as follows: “A pyrethroid is a synthetic chemical compound similar to the natural chemical pyrethrins produced by the flowers of pyrethrums (Chrysanthemum cinerariaefolium and C. coccineum). Pyrethroids now constitute a major proportion of the synthetic insecticide market and are common in commercial products such as household insecticides. In the concentrations used in such products, they may also have insect repellent properties and are generally harmless to human beings in low doses but can harm sensitive individuals. They are usually broken apart by sunlight and the atmosphere in one or two days, and do not significantly affect groundwater quality”
Our applications are undertaken by registered service technicians who are trained to apply pesticides to the target pests. All applications are conducted with safety as our first priority, where safety to the public, the client, the environment and our service technician are considered before the application takes place.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
FLICK prides itself with high standards of service and workmanship and has recently introduced a Quality Assurance Program.
A senior member of the FLICK Management team will do random inspections of your premises to ensure that our standards are maintained and that regular personal contact is kept with you.
All treatments are guaranteed, however in the event of a re-infestation by the specified pests anytime during the life of the Service Agreement, FLICK will make, without any additional charges to you, additional inspections and treatments to re-establish control of such pests.
All rodenticides and pesticides used are registered and SABS approved and will be applied by our qualified Pest Control Technicians. The FLICK technicians are highly skilled and registered with the Department of agriculture in Pretoria thus ensuring all safety precautions are adhered to.
PESTICIDES AND THE LAW
All pesticides in South Africa are governed by the Fertilizers, Farm Feeds, Agricultural Remedies and Stock Remedies Act, 1947 (Act No. 36 of 1947). All products that claim to control, kill or repel any vertebrate or invertebrate pest have to be registered with the Registrar of Act No. 36 of 1947 whether such products are natural or synthetic of origin. The Act is highly prescriptive in terms of the registration requirements, claims that are made on the labels of such products and a host of other things. This is to ensure that products are effective, that they do not pose a significant risk to human beings and the environment, and do what they are supposed to do.
FLICK technicians follow the recommended dosage rates printed on the respective pesticide label and wear the appropriate safety equipment when handling or applying the pesticide due to the fact that all Pesticide manufacturers are bound by law to print warnings and precautions on their labels.
